The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the performance, reliability, and lifecycle cost of a multi-site fleet of heavy equipment and light vehicles. This role leads maintenance superintendents and site maintenance leadership across an assigned region, develops maintenance strategy and standards, and ensures compliance with MSHA/OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Success is defined by fleet cost and equipment delivery, driven by a disciplined preventive maintenance program. This is a build role in a growing company, involving the establishment of new sites, integration of new fleets, and development of future maintenance leaders.

Requirements

Authorized to work in the United States.
Proven team building and leadership experience, with a demonstrated track record of hiring, developing, and retaining maintenance teams, including direct reports.
Minimum five (5) years of maintenance leadership experience, including supervision of maintenance supervisors or superintendents.
Demonstrated ownership of maintenance cost within a P&L: budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost per operating hour.
Demonstrated track record of improving equipment availability and reliability through a structured preventive maintenance program.
Previous experience managing heavy equipment and light vehicle maintenance across multiple sites or a large single operation.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly growing organization and adapt as the business scales.
Strong experience with maintenance software programs (CMMS), Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Experience with civil, mining equipment, and mass excavation (preferred).
Working knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations and mine site safety programs.
Strong delegation, organizational, and written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to form and foster collaborative relationships within the Company, customers, and suppliers, and a commitment to teach and train others.
Willingness to travel as needed, up to 75%.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Ability to lift 50 lbs., safely climb ladders, and regularly walk on uneven ground.

Responsibilities

Own maintenance cost against the area P&L, including budget building, forecasting, spend control, variance explanation, and management of cost per operating hour, parts and inventory, outside repair, and labor spend.
Own equipment availability as a primary performance measure, setting targets by fleet and asset class, monitoring daily, and driving corrective actions.
Develop and enforce a disciplined preventive maintenance program across plant, mobile equipment, and light vehicle fleets, including PM schedules, intervals, planning, scheduling, backlog management, and PM compliance.
Track and report KPIs to area leadership and operations management, such as mechanical availability, utilization, MTBF, PM compliance, downtime, and cost per operating hour.
Manage the fleet across its lifecycle, including acquisition input, utilization, rebuild vs. replace decisions, and disposal, with total cost of ownership as the measure.
Build, lead, and develop high-performing maintenance teams by recruiting, hiring, coaching, mentoring, and retaining superintendents and site maintenance leadership.
Manage vendor, dealer, and supplier relationships, including service agreements, warranty recovery, and negotiated parts and labor pricing.
Approve and prioritize purchase orders, maintenance work orders, and repair work within delegated authority, ensuring compliance with safety and work permits.
Standardize maintenance software use, work order discipline, and data quality across all sites, including newly mobilized operations.
Oversee labor planning, staffing levels, and employee time and attendance for the area's maintenance organization, ensuring compliance with policies and safety rules.
Assure personnel safety through MSHA regulation compliance, leading incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for maintenance-related events.
Coordinate communication and directives between the labor force, site leadership, company personnel, customers, and senior management.
Partner with area leadership and operations management on mobilization, demobilization, capital planning, and long-range fleet strategy.
