About The Position

As the Maintenance Manager for Capilano River RV Park, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, upkeep, and operational readiness of all facilities, grounds, and infrastructure within the RV park. Reporting directly to the General Manager of Capilano River RV Park, this role requires leadership in managing the site's maintenance team, developing preventative maintenance programs, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Additionally, you will oversee budget control, contract management, project delivery, and lifecycle maintenance strategies for the park's infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary education in a related discipline or a combination of technical training plus extensive knowledge of facility or property maintenance.
  • Advanced knowledge of various maintenance disciplines (plumbing, electrical, groundskeeping, basic carpentry).
  • A solid understanding of cost control and budget management.
  • Strong knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and WorkSafeBC best practices.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong team player with solid communication skills.
  • High levels of integrity and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced hospitality/resort environment.
  • Ability to work independently within established guidelines and procedures and as a member of a team.
  • Proven ability to manage, mentor, and evaluate maintenance teams and trade performance.
  • Ability to manage project schedules and resources to meet timelines and expectations.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, and facility surveys.
  • Ability to carry out basic carpentry and mechanical skills.
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and guest-related operational needs.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to interact professionally with guests, colleagues, and senior management.
  • Proficient in MS Office software (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • 3-5 years of working experience in a similar maintenance leadership role (experience in RV parks, campgrounds, hospitality resorts, or large-scale property management is highly preferred).
  • Experience across different maintenance disciplines.
  • Experience working on several projects simultaneously and leading a team.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching hourly workers.
  • Background as a labourer or equipment operator.
  • Willing to work additional hours, weekends, or be on-call as required by park operations.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain BCRPA or RFABC Pool Operator Level 1.
  • Must have a Class 5 (or higher) BC Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Able to perform physically demanding work.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain certification for filling propane tanks and vehicles.
  • Must pass a criminal record check.

Responsibilities

  • Develop maintenance work plans, processes, and action plans tailored to the RV park in collaboration with the General Manager and corporate leadership.
  • Procure requirements for labour, equipment, or subcontractors.
  • Review, maintain, and provide detailed maintenance reports.
  • Ensure the grounds of the park are well maintained and have ‘curb appeal’ for customers and residents.
  • Ensure efficient and effective use and maintenance of labour, equipment, and materials, ensuring high-quality standards are met.
  • Oversee the use and care of company equipment and tools, including rental items, making sure that items are returned to safe and secured areas upon completion of work and that items are inspected daily and serviced as required.
  • Direct and coach the RV park's maintenance team to ensure maintenance plans are carried out effectively and efficiently.
  • Meet regularly with the General Manager and team leads to review items related to park maintenance and operations.
  • Ensure that Team Members are equipped with the information, knowledge, training, and supervision to work safely.
  • Follow the Nch'kay Employee Handbook and EHS Management System when managing Team Members.
  • Ensure that park operations are performed in a safe manner by following the Nch'kay EHS Management system.
  • Understand, implement, and enforce applicable WorkSafeBC Acts and Regulations, Safe Work Procedures, Safe Work Practices, and Safety Rules.
  • Ensure that appropriate and well-maintained equipment is available and utilized to perform work activities.
  • Ensure that Team Members are informed about job hazards and are prepared to deal with any site-specific hazards.
  • Ensure that Team Members apply all hazard controls to the workplace as specified in applicable job hazard assessments and safe work procedures.
  • Oversee contractor safety management, including pre-qualification and development of project safety plans.
  • Provide guidance on RV park systems (including utility hookups, water, sewer, and electrical configurations), building systems, operations, and maintenance, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices, with a focus on sustainable and culturally appropriate solutions.
  • In conjunction with the general manager, coordinate capital projects within the park, ensuring successful delivery, budget adherence, and quality outcomes that align with Nch'kay’s commitment to community development.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks to park infrastructure, ensuring operational resilience and guest safety while respecting the natural environment and cultural heritage.
  • Research and implement emerging technologies to enhance maintenance efficiency and sustainability, while considering the unique needs and values of the Squamish Nation.
  • Perform other duties as required.
