About The Position

Microtech Knives is seeking a hands-on, organized, and accountable Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance, janitorial services, groundskeeping, building upkeep, and facility support across multiple company locations. This role is responsible for managing the daily operations of the maintenance department, including facility repairs, preventive maintenance, janitorial coverage, grounds care, vendor coordination, safety compliance, work order follow-up, supply inventory, and team performance. The Maintenance Manager will ensure all Microtech facilities are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, safety, organization, and operational readiness. This position supports both facility and production needs. The Maintenance Manager must be comfortable leading a team while also stepping in hands-on when needed. The Maintenance Lead role currently includes overseeing maintenance operations, scheduling preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, improving equipment effectiveness, and minimizing downtime. The Maintenance Technician role also includes facilities maintenance, janitorial support, lawn care, machine cleaning, and basic equipment care. This manager role brings those responsibilities together across all assigned facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, building maintenance, or a related hands-on maintenance role.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of general building maintenance, basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, painting, carpentry, janitorial operations, groundskeeping, and facility repair.
  • Ability to lead a team across multiple facilities and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, maintenance equipment, lawn care equipment, and janitorial equipment safely.
  • Strong communication, organization, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to respond professionally and urgently to facility needs.
  • Strong commitment to safety, cleanliness, accountability, and company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, schedule, and support the maintenance, janitorial, and facilities team across all assigned Microtech locations.
  • Assign daily work orders, facility tasks, janitorial responsibilities, repair needs, and special projects.
  • Provide training, direction, coaching, accountability, and performance feedback to maintenance and janitorial team members.
  • Set clear expectations for quality, cleanliness, safety, responsiveness, and professional conduct.
  • Ensure maintenance coverage is planned appropriately across all facilities.
  • Partner with leadership, supervisors, and production teams to identify facility concerns and resolve maintenance-related issues quickly.
  • Support a culture of safety, ownership, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Oversee maintenance and upkeep for all assigned Microtech facilities, including offices, production areas, restrooms, break rooms, walkways, storage areas, parking areas, and common spaces.
  • Ensure buildings remain safe, clean, functional, organized, and professional in appearance.
  • Manage general facility repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, doors, flooring, walls, fixtures, painting, carpentry, and other building needs.
  • Inspect facilities regularly and address maintenance concerns before they become larger issues.
  • Coordinate facility setup, teardown, and support for company meetings, events, employee functions, visitors, audits, and department needs.
  • Ensure maintenance requests are handled in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develop, manage, and improve preventive maintenance processes for facility systems, production support equipment, building systems, and company assets.
  • Schedule and oversee routine inspections, servicing, and repairs to prevent breakdowns and reduce downtime.
  • Support basic production equipment maintenance, machine cleaning, equipment movement, machine setup support, and startup projects as needed.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting and repairs for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, plumbing, and general facility-related issues.
  • Partner with production, engineering, and leadership to identify equipment reliability issues and facility improvement opportunities.
  • Oversee janitorial coverage and ensure all facilities meet Microtech standards for cleanliness, safety, and presentation.
  • Manage cleaning schedules for offices, restrooms, break rooms, production areas, walkways, common areas, and high-touch surfaces.
  • Ensure trash removal, recycling, restroom restocking, spill response, chemical use, and cleaning supply management are completed properly.
  • Monitor facility cleanliness and address concerns promptly.
  • Ensure cleaning chemicals and janitorial equipment are used safely and according to company procedures.
  • Set expectations for professional appearance of all buildings, both interior and exterior.
  • Oversee groundskeeping, lawn care, landscaping, exterior cleanup, and parking area maintenance across assigned facilities.
  • Ensure exterior walkways, entrances, outdoor spaces, parking lots, and facility grounds remain clean, safe, and professional.
  • Coordinate seasonal cleanup, debris removal, basic weather-related cleanup, mowing, trimming, edging, and exterior maintenance needs.
  • Identify exterior hazards and ensure timely correction.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors, contractors, suppliers, and service providers for repairs, inspections, projects, supplies, and facility services.
  • Obtain quotes, schedule work, monitor quality, and ensure outside services are completed safely and properly.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and hold service providers accountable for quality, timeliness, and professionalism.
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies, janitorial supplies, spare parts, tools, equipment, and critical facility materials.
  • Ensure critical spare parts and supplies are stocked to minimize facility interruptions and production downtime.
  • Ensure all maintenance and janitorial work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies, OSHA expectations, PPE requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, machine safety, chemical safety, and facility standards.
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions, facility hazards, damaged equipment, spills, blocked walkways, electrical concerns, and other safety risks.
  • Train team members on safe work practices, proper tool use, chemical handling, lifting techniques, ladder safety, and equipment safety.
  • Partner with HR, leadership, and supervisors to support safety reporting, near-miss reporting, and corrective actions.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture where facility concerns are reported and addressed quickly.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, maintenance activities, facility inspections, equipment history, preventive maintenance, cleaning schedules, completed repairs, vendor work, and supply usage.
  • Prepare updates for leadership regarding open maintenance items, completed projects, safety concerns, facility risks, department needs, and upcoming priorities.
  • Track recurring problems and recommend improvements to reduce downtime, improve facility conditions, and increase department efficiency.
  • Support root cause analysis for equipment or facility failures and implement corrective actions.
