About The Position

GFL Environmental is looking for a high-gear Maintenance Manager II to lead our shop operations in High Point, NC. At GFL, our fleet is the backbone of our mission to provide essential environmental services. We need a leader who can balance technical expertise with top-tier people management to keep our trucks safe, compliant, and ready for the road. As our Maintenance Manager II, you aren’t just supervising repairs; you are the architect of uptime. You will lead a dedicated team of technicians and support staff, ensuring that our maintenance programs are executed with precision and that safety is never compromised.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required).
  • DOT certification for air brake inspection and a valid CDL (or the drive to get one within 6 months).
  • Substantial supervisory experience in a heavy-duty truck maintenance environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience using fleet management software (like TMW or JDEdwards) to track work orders and assets.
  • A problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment and leads with a "Safety First, Quality Always" attitude.
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide valid documentation confirming their eligibility to work in the country where the job is located prior to their start date.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Crew: Mentor and develop your shop team. You’ll be responsible for scheduling, performance management, and fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Command the Shop: Direct all maintenance activities, from routine PMs to major overhauls, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
  • Safety Champion: Own the safety culture in the shop. Conduct training, enforce PPE standards, and ensure every bolt is tightened and every inspection is perfect.
  • Operational Synergy: Work hand-in-hand with the Operations team to prioritize equipment repairs and minimize downtime for our routes.
  • Inventory & Vendor Mastery: Manage parts inventory and build strong relationships with external vendors to keep the supplies flowing and costs in check.
  • Compliance Expert: Ensure all fleet records and shop operations meet DOT, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
