About The Position

Union facility (IAM) - Heavy equipment manufacturing facility with casting and extrusion processes. 1.5x pay over 40 hours per week. We offer a 401K match plan and a full benefits package. Additional combined trade and lead rates are available after 90 days of employment. Additional shifts available: Off-Shift will be open to the choice of applicants – 8-hour afternoons, 8-hour nights, or 12-hour 7 pm to 7 am 4on/4off.

Requirements

  • Mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting fluid mechanics, including repair of pumps, valves, cylinders, compressors, and rebuild of fluid mechanic devices per hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
  • Operating rigging equipment, man lifts, and mobile equipment.
  • Layout, assembly, installation, and maintenance of mechanical parts, hydraulic systems, and supports (air lines, PVC pipes, water lines).
  • Measuring, cutting, threading, bending, and installing pneumatic and hydraulic pipes, components, and fittings.
  • Soldering copper pipes.
  • Setting up and operating metalworking tools (hand threaders, machine threaders).
  • Testing operation following repair.
  • Reading pressure gauges.
  • Performing preventative routine maintenance (inspections, filters, measurements, changing oil).
  • Welding metal components.
  • Grinding welded surfaces.
  • Making safety shields and guards with understanding of OSHA guarding requirements.
  • Maintaining work area to acceptable housekeeping standards.
  • Accessing tool room and stock room computer to find parts.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing/5S principles.
  • Maintaining critical spare parts.

Responsibilities

  • Observes the functioning of installed equipment to detect hazards, problems, and the need for service, repair, and/or replacement of mechanical components.
  • Repairs and maintains mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment.
  • Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate the cause of malfunctions, including measuring parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems, and removal, replacement, and repair of worn or defective parts.
  • Assembles and/or fabricates according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of mechanical systems and components and their functions.
  • Understands and can troubleshoot fluid mechanics, including repair of pumps, valves, cylinders, compressors, and rebuild of fluid mechanic devices per hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
  • Dismantles machines and equipment and operates rigging equipment, man lifts, and mobile equipment.
  • Layouts, assembles, installs, and maintains mechanical parts, hydraulic systems, and supports. i.e., air lines, PVC pipes, water lines, including realigning and adjusting of components.
  • Visually inspect and locate damaged pneumatic and hydraulic pipes, components, and fittings to detect leaks, damage, wear and repair or measure, cut, thread, bend, and install new.
  • Install hydraulic, pneumatic, water lines on new machinery.
  • Solder all copper pipes.
  • Sets up and operates metalworking tools, i.e., hand threaders, machine threaders.
  • Tests operation following repair.
  • Read pressure gauges to detect abnormalities.
  • Performs preventative routine maintenance such as inspections, filters, measurements, and changing oil.
  • Markup sketches or computer-generated designs of machine components.
  • Weld metal components of products by operating a number of welding machines including layout, fit, and tacking workpieces together.
  • Visually examines welds for adherence to specifications including re-weld defective joints.
  • Grind welded surfaces for penetrant test including removing surplus slag, flux, and spatter.
  • Make up safety shields and guards with understanding of OSHA guarding requirements.
  • Maintain work area to acceptable housekeeping standards.
  • Access the tool room and stock room computer to find parts in stock.
  • Provide training and guidance to Machine Repair Trainees.
  • Assists production when needed.
  • Quality and productivity standards are expected to be met at all times.
  • Maintain Lean Manufacturing/5S principles.
  • Helps maintain critical spare parts.
  • Recommend the purchase of material and supplies.
  • Discusses performance issues and improvement ideas with pertinent technical staff.
