About The Position

Iron Oak Energy is seeking a Maintenance Lead for their Vest Plant in Kermit, TX. This role involves managing a team of maintenance workers, maintaining equipment and facilities, and ensuring compliance with all company, state, and federal policies and regulations. The Maintenance Lead will collaborate with plant production employees to execute the work plan safely and effectively. Iron Oak Energy Solutions is a premier frac sand mining company formed from the strategic combination of Covia Energy and Black Mountain Sand, aiming to deliver superior products and solutions to North American oil and natural gas markets.

Requirements

  • Sufficient education or experience to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative mechanical maintenance on plant systems, including pumps, conveyors, screens, all rotating equipment, and structures, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • Ability to complete written documentation and records.
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical equations using fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, fine measuring tools, laser alignment tools, and other labor tools.
  • Senior level maintenance skills sufficient to inspect equipment and complete repairs.
  • Ability to apply mechanical knowledge and experience to a wide variety of situations and recommend solutions to complex problems.
  • Effective communication skills: ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Must be a team player with high-level self-motivation requiring minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work any shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays as the plant schedule may fluctuate.
  • Ability to wear a respirator, safety harness, and all other required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors and be exposed to the elements.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; grip, climb, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, pull, and push.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, or position up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US and be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise maintenance staff, assign tasks, and ensure efficient and safe job completion.
  • Mentor, coach, and train maintenance staff in safety policies and procedures.
  • Oversee and perform routine preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and identify solutions, collaborating with maintenance technicians, supervision, production, and management.
  • Collaborate with management and planning to develop and execute maintenance plans.
  • Utilize a computerized maintenance management system for work order creation/closing and materials utilization.
  • Utilize a digital safety management platform.
