About The Position

Iron Oak Energy, a leading provider of proppant to the oil and gas industry, is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic III for its Kermit 115 plant in Kermit, Texas. This role requires mid to expert level skills in troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on sand plant equipment and systems. The Maintenance Mechanic III will also mentor and train junior technicians. The Kermit 115 facility, formerly High Roller Sand, was acquired by Iron Oak Energy in April 2025 and is currently being integrated into the company's HR system. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician at a sand plant.
  • Mid to expert maintenance skills sufficient to troubleshoot, repair, and perform maintenance on sand plant equipment and systems.
  • Able to change bearings, change conveyors, and splice conveyors with no supervision.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Familiar with MSHA standards.
  • Ability to read blueprints/schematics.
  • Able to wear a respirator and other required personal protective equipment.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Understand, support, and execute all work in a safe manner and contribute to a culture that promotes safety as its overriding priority.
  • Must have a team player attitude with high-level of self-motivation requiring minimal supervision.
  • Adapt to frequent job duty changes as required by business and workforce demands.
  • Complete tasks within designated time limits to meet production standards.
  • Focuses on making today and this week a success.
  • Set the example by actively contributing to department and company goals.
  • Must be able to traverse and access all areas of the plant to diagnose issues and perform repairs.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines.
  • Must be able to work safely in a noisy area.
  • Must be able to work under various temperatures ranging from typical 10 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform a wide range of troubleshooting and repairing of sand plant equipment and systems.
  • Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair plant machinery.
  • Contribute to the development and training of lower-level technicians.
  • Perform routinely scheduled preventative maintenance on plant equipment and systems.
  • Follow all lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Work independently on advanced projects and plan out such projects.
  • Take all production calls and determine the priority of repairs.
  • Proficiently use the CMMS (FIIX) system.
  • Proficiently weld and fabricate.
  • Coach, mentor, and train less experienced mechanics.
  • Work planned and unplanned hours in support of a 24/7 plant operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
