About The Position

The Maintenance Lead acts as an extension of management by leading and coordinating the daily activities of the maintenance technicians in a sauce and liquid manufacturing facility. Partners with the Maintenance Supervisor to plan and schedule work, prioritize resources, and support troubleshooting, repairs, and reliability improvements for processing, packaging, and automated systems. In partnership with the Maintenance Clerk, supports spare parts management to ensure machine reliability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • High School or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques of maintenance, inspection, and emergency repair programs
  • Knowledge of motorized and hand tools and equipment used in assigned work area
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of construction skills and heavy equipment operation techniques

Nice To Haves

  • Food manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of safe use of pesticides depending on work area
  • Knowledge of plant and pest identification methods and techniques depending on work area
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision and employee development
  • Ability to trouble shoot problems and resolve non-routine maintenance and repair issues

Responsibilities

  • Performs work and ensures the work of others is performed in accordance with GMPs, Food Safety, Quality and safety practices, and proper work methods or procedures.
  • Provides day-to-day leadership and work direction to maintenance technicians; assigns and prioritizes work orders; monitors safety/quality; communicates status and needs to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs sauce and liquid mixing and packaging equipment and supporting utilities to assure food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintains and repairs key production assets including but not limited to steam-jacketed cooking vessels, high shear mixers, positive displacement and centrifugal pumps, plate-and-frame and double-tube heat exchangers, load cells, modular belt conveyors, checkweighers, case erectors, case tapers, thermal transfer printers, ink jet printers, and case labelers.
  • Provides mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic controls troubleshooting on PLC/HMI-controlled equipment; partners with automation support and OEMs as needed.
  • Assists the Maintenance Manager with planning and scheduling by reviewing work requests, scoping jobs, coordinating downtime, staging parts/tools, and verifying completion.
  • Executes and improves preventive and predictive maintenance programs (inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and component replacement) to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Documents work performed in the CMMS, including troubleshooting notes, downtime causes, corrective actions, and parts usage.
