About The Position

Responsible for the following aspects of the Lawn and Tennis Department, which include but are not limited to sweeping, watering, and brushing the lines of the tennis courts, repairing irrigation systems, replacing clay court materials, replacing wickets on the croquet lawns, blowing off the pickleball courts, maintaining windscreens, controlling weeds, power washing, managing trash and towels, and overall general upkeep. This role also involves maintaining positive relationships with Members/Guests, promoting Pro Shop sales, and ensuring the facilities are properly maintained and safe. The position requires the ability to make appropriate decisions when the Director of Racquet Sports is not available and to assist in overall Lawn & Tennis operations as requested.

Requirements

Previous experience in tennis court maintenance is preferred
Knowledge of Har-Tru or clay tennis courts is highly desirable
Ability to work in various weather conditions
Strong attention to detail
Physical ability to perform the necessary tasks
Outgoing, enthusiastic team-oriented mentality a must
High school diploma required.
Must be able to comprehend the English language in order to communicate with Members, Guests, Associates and fully understand job assignments.
Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds
Must be able to sit for long periods of time
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Work in various climates
Must be able to squat and kneel down on regular basis
Must be able to bend & twist upper body to reach up, down or side-ways on regular basis
Works in outside weather conditions
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
Must be able to work weekends, nights, and holidays
Be a team player and provide lateral service.
Follow Ocean Reef Club Associate Handbook and Quality Job Standards
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Ocean Reef Club from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.
Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry and report deadlines, associate may be required to work varying schedules to meet the business needs of the Club and report deadlines.
Vacation and personal time must be approved by the Director of Racquet Sports and must meet the needs of the Department.
Proper grooming is required by all associates and is described in detail in the Associates Handbook. Associates should review this policy and make sure that at all times they present themselves for shifts looking clean, neat and professional.
As a condition of employment, all associates agree to fully comply with Ocean Reef Club rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of Club facilities.
Associates who violate Club rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Responsibilities

Maintaining 9 Clay Tennis courts (e.g. sweeping, watering, and brushing the lines of the tennis courts in the mornings, afternoons and whenever else is needed)
Maintaining 9 Pickleball courts (e.g. removing leaves, powerwashing courts and removing trash)
Maintaining 2 Croquet Lawns (e.g. removing and replacing wickets, removing leaves, painting court)
Repairing and maintaining irrigation systems to ensure proper water supply
Replacing clay court materials as needed
Ensuring wind screens are in good condition (e.g. properly hung and zip tied)
Tidying outdoor furniture
Emptying trash cans
Stocking towels and cups
Washing and folding towels
Leaf blowing off areas around the courts
Controlling weeds and maintaining a weed-free environment
Performing general upkeep tasks to ensure the courts are in optimal condition
Collaborating with team members to coordinate maintenance schedules
Maintaining a positive relationship with Members/Guests, always being courteous, friendly, happy, outgoing, and professional.
Working closely with the Director of Racquet Sports, Head Professional and other members of the staff, maintaining a positive rapport with coworkers as well as management.
Actively soliciting feedback from the members and guests frequenting the tennis center, and reporting to the Director of Racquet Sports.
Promoting Pro Shop sales, along with game matching, guest registration, and court reservations, which includes answering the phone in a polite and professional manner.
Taking ownership and conducting regular inspections of the court facilities, seeing that all areas are properly maintained by staff.
Observing all situations for safety
Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of all emergency procedures.
Active demonstration and implementation of the ORC Promises; Demonstrate the ORC way in all aspects of this positions i.e. hygiene, uniforms, etc.
Being able to make appropriate decisions when the Director of Racquet Sports is not available.
Assisting as needed in the overall Lawn & Tennis facilities and operations, conducting the necessary maintenance, upkeep and records, as requested by the Director of Racquet Sports.
Performing any other task or job that is in need of being performed, to maintain the highest quality of service to our members at the Tennis Center.
