Maintenance Helper- Continental Shift

About The Position

This role involves troubleshooting and performing regular maintenance on all equipment and machines within a plant. The Maintenance Helper will execute planned and ad hoc maintenance, commission new equipment, and perform preventative maintenance. The position operates within a multi-skilled environment to maintain plant machinery and equipment, with a focus on improving processes to minimize production disruption. Responsibilities include responding to equipment breakdowns, executing mechanical repairs (pneumatic and hydraulic systems, drives, bearings, gears), and installing/maintaining production equipment. Collaboration with the Engineering team is key for developing and maintaining preventative and predictive maintenance programs, as well as developing BOMs and maintaining spare parts inventory. The role also requires setting up and maintaining a safe and organized maintenance shop, ensuring work areas are clean, organized, and safe, and ensuring the safe and efficient operations of the plant. Maintaining maintenance records in the company's enterprise resource planning software and achieving maintenance department objectives are also crucial. The position requires adherence to HR, EHS, and company policies, participation in accident investigations and work refusals, and participation in work-related training. Additionally, the role involves operating production equipment, understanding work instructions and SOPs, assembling handmade products, placing products into inventory bins (physically and in software), and wrapping, strapping, and labeling materials. Other tasks as required will also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • Operate within a multi-skilled environment
  • Execute mechanical repairs including pneumatic and hydraulic systems, drives, bearings, and gears
  • Maintain maintenance records in the company's enterprise resource planning software
  • Follow human resources, environmental health and safety, and Pliteq policies
  • Participate in accident investigations and work refusals
  • Participate in work related training
  • Operate production equipment including mixers, production presses, cylinder press, peeling machines, rewinding machines, convoluters, laminators, regrind and screening line
  • Investigate, read, and understand all work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for product being run
  • Assemble handmade products that are made from recycled material (e.g. FIS, FF Panels)
  • Place products into designated inventory bins both physically as well as in NetSuite software
  • Wrap, strap and correctly label all materials used and produced
