About The Position

Southbridge Care Homes provides exceptional acquisition, management, and redevelopment services for long-term care homes and retirement communities across Ontario. Our mission is to maintain a best-in-class portfolio that consistently delivers excellence in care and services while ensuring economic sustainability. The Maintenance will be responsible for specific operations related to mechanical, electrical and maintenance departments. Our Maintenance Aide will be the first point of contact for any concerns related to the facilities of the home.

Requirements

Must have mechanical aptitude and be able to read and write the English language.
Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.
Knowledgeable about WHMIS, OH & S
High School Diploma
A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of hire date.
Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months

Nice To Haves

Experience in electrical, plumbing, patchwork, painting preferred
College level trade certificate is an asset

Responsibilities

Follow the home’s Preventive Maintenance Program as well as the Demand Maintenance Program
Regularly perform the various tasks described in the programs
Regularly checking completed maintenance logs in each department/home area of the home
Complete repairs as necessary including not limited to: Painting, wall repair, small leak, install (toilet, sink, tiling, doors, replace light fixtures, install blinds)
Check the operation of the mechanical equipment
Inspect Life Safety equipment and systems
Ensure safe storage of maintenance equipment
Complete regular maintenance reports
Complete pre-start up assessments on a new equipment as applicable
Coordinate annual preventive maintenance checks by contractors
Perform other duties as required
Must be available for call ins on short notice
Perform everything pertaining to maintenance including heavy duty related work
