About The Position

The Maintenance Helper performs general maintenance work to ensure hotel maintenance quality standards are achieved and maintained. A significant portion of the day is spent ensuring all equipment is properly functioning (TV, plumbing, electrical lights, HVAC). This person must understand the technologies required in the work they are directing.

Requirements

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
Experience as a hotel Maintenance worker.
Excellent organizational skills.
A “hands-on individual” knowledgeable in general maintenance, HVAC, woodwork, plumbing, electrical, drywall, grouting, grounds maintenance, boilers, small appliances, etc.
Ability to deal with all levels of management in a professional manner.
Ability to take direction from different management staff
Requires focus with consistent interruption
Ability to deal with guests in a courteous and pleasant manner
Some heavy lifting required
Standing for long periods
Working with hazardous materials
Must be available throughout all hours of the day.
Will be required to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Will be required to work in fast paced, stressful environment.
May be asked to work overtime.

Responsibilities

Assists with completion of the preventative maintenance checklist and completes minor repair work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, etc, to maintain the hotel and keep product quality to standard.
Assists in checking electrical systems such as air conditioning controls, television sets, lighting systems and makes minor repairs and/ or replacement.
Assists in checking and makes minor repairs on general plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipe lines, toilets and sinks, kitchen, leisure club and laundry equipment.
Maintains outside hotel property, parking lots, lawns, etc., according to seasonal requirements.
Refurbishes furniture and fixtures within guest rooms such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows and counters. Paints and finishes furniture and fixtures in guest rooms, if needed.
Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
Participates in fire drills, training classes regarding safety, security, department procedures and service guidelines.
Ensures all fire and safety inspections are completed and any discrepancies are corrected.
Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
Follows company policies and procedures.
