About The Position

The Maintenance Groundskeeper is responsible for properly maintaining the grounds of the campus, including the Jewish Home and Marian’s House grounds, in a safe, attractive, and appealing fashion. This role involves a variety of tasks related to groundskeeping, landscaping, and basic building maintenance and repairs.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Valid NYS driver's license.
• Some college or technical school training in golf course/grounds maintenance, landscaping, and building maintenance, and light repairs in building maintenance.
• Ability to perform basic building repairs including minor electrical and plumbing repairs.
• Ability to perform routine building maintenance and basic preventive maintenance and emergency maintenance repairs.

Nice To Haves

• Pesticide and herbicide applicators license.
• Four (4) years in landscaping and general building maintenance and repairs.
• Experience with MS Office and MS Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and perform all work relating to grounds maintenance and up-keep, including mowing, trimming, weeding, planting, inspecting, ground repairs, snow removal, and ice control.
• Recognize and identify diseases, insects, or other problems with trees, shrubs, turf, flowers, and other plant materials, and implement control measures.
• Perform basic building repairs, including minor electrical repairs (changing light bulbs, switches, plugs, cords), minor plumbing repairs (unclogging sinks, toilets, drains; repairing faucets, toilets, showers, valves, sinks), and routine building maintenance (basic painting, wall repairs, room preparation).
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and emergency maintenance repairs as assigned.
• Plan and perform work on small to mid-sized outdoor and indoor projects.
• Work with tradesmen, mechanics, or other staff as assigned.
• Be On-Call during the snow season and carry the assigned On-Call cell phone for the Maintenance On-Call rotation.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.
