About The Position

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The role involves responding to mechanical or electrical breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring equipment readiness before production startup and shutdown. The work environment can vary in temperature and humidity, and may be dusty. Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, stooping, and the ability to climb ladders, lifts, and scaffolds. Lifting up to 70lbs may be required, and safety toe boots are mandatory.

Requirements

  • Work in temperature that will vary with outside ambient temperatures and humidity. It can be dusty, warm, cold and/or humid.
  • The positions physical requirements will include standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, stooping and the ability to climb ladders, lifts, and scaffolds.
  • Lifting will also be required and depending on department could be up to 70lbs.
  • Required to wear a safety toe boot that can withstand 75lbs. at all times.
  • Basic computer skills with knowledge in Word and Excel.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are critical.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing, ability to complete on-the-job paperwork and effectively communicate across all management levels.

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience or graduate of industrial maintenance training program or combination of experience and education to meet the 2 – year requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide troubleshooting and repair of any mechanical malfunction
  • Prepare written documentation of actions taken to correct equipment problems
  • Responds to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handle emergency situations
  • Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule
  • Complete appropriate paperwork and reports
  • Must comply with lockout/ tagout, confined space, and all other safety programs
  • Must be able to perform mechanical and basic electrical trouble shooting and repairs
  • Able to perform diagnosis and repairs without supervision
  • Capable of starting all equipment before production startup and shutdown without supervision
  • Ability to assist with other mechanics as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
