About The Position

This position will perform tasks involving welding, cutting, minor electrical repair, removing and replacement of motor shafts, couplings, pumps, augers, water and steam pipes, lines and systems in an industrial environment while adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Other duties as delegated by management such as welding, cutting, minor electrical repair, equipment removal and installation, structural fabrication, pipe fitting, heavy equipment set up.

Requirements

  • 1 plus years of accumulative Industrial Maintenance or Millwright skills required.
  • Must be willing to work A, B, C or D shift.
  • Must be able and willing to work weekends, and any/all other hours as needed to complete the project.
  • Travel will be required to complete jobs at other facilities.
  • Must be able to work more than 12 hours if needed.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age.
  • Applicants who have worked for Tyson three times will not be considered.
  • Minimum 180 days waiting period from previous Tyson employment.
  • Must be able to provide proof of authorization to work legally in the United States.
  • Must pass a urinalysis screening which is part of the post-offer health assessment.

  • Skills in Welding, Hydraulics, Power Transmissions, Pneumatics, Fabrication, Pipe Fitting, Rigging, Basic Electrical, Mechanical Layout and Plumbing will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Removal, installation and setup of rendering equipment, to include but not limited to conveyors, pumps, cookers, hydrolyzers, presses, power transmission components, steam traps, ramps, catwalks and piping.
  • Weld, use cutting tools such as cutting torch, plasma cutter, grinders, etc.
  • Perform basic electrical work and use basic electrical tools including a digital multi-meter, wire/unwire 3 phase motors, basic single-phase terminations etc.
  • Operate heavy industrial equipment such as crane, boom lift, scissor lift, telehandler, forklift etc.
  • Fabrication experience to build catwalks, handrails, transitions, equipment supports etc.
  • Rigging experience/certifications.
  • Climb ladders and stairs and stand for long periods of time.
  • Withstand heat and cold and work in adverse weather condition.
  • Exhibit a cooperative attitude.
  • Lift more than 60 lbs.
  • Read and understand policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Document information.
  • Communicate with others written and verbally.
