About The Position

The Maintenance Generalist is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This role involves responding to mechanical or electrical breakdowns, handling emergency situations, and performing preventive maintenance according to schedule. The position requires the ability to perform mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs, diagnose and repair equipment without supervision, and assist other mechanics as needed. The work environment can involve varying temperatures, dust, and humidity, and requires the ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling, stooping, and lifting up to 70lbs.

Requirements

  • 1 year work experience in industrial maintenance
  • Must be able to perform mechanical and basic electrical trouble shooting and repairs.
  • Able to perform diagnosis and repairs without supervision.
  • Capable of starting all equipment before production startup and shutdown without supervision.
  • Must comply with lockout/ tagout, confined space, and all other safety programs.
  • Prior Employee Waiting Period: If you were previously employed at Tyson, there’s a 365-day waiting period before you can reapply.
  • Number of Times Worked at Tyson: You can apply if you’ve worked at Tyson no more than three times.
  • Failed Drug Screen - if you had a failed drug screen, you must wait 6 months before reapplying.
  • The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Provide troubleshooting and repair of any mechanical malfunction.
  • Prepare written documentation of actions taken to correct equipment problems.
  • Responds to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handle emergency situations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork and reports.
  • Must comply with lockout/ tagout, confined space, and all other safety programs.
  • Must be able to perform mechanical and basic electrical trouble shooting and repairs.
  • Able to perform diagnosis and repairs without supervision.
  • Capable of starting all equipment before production startup and shutdown without supervision.
  • Ability to assist with other mechanics as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
