About The Position

This role involves performing monthly preventative maintenance inspections of buildings, conducting necessary building maintenance and repairs, and overseeing a structured custodial cleaning schedule. Responsibilities include floor waxing, HVAC vent cleaning, carpet and tile maintenance, and coordinating custodial staff workflow. The position also entails painting or repairing various building structures, recording maintenance costs, and scheduling routine tasks like gutter cleaning, air compressor servicing, pressure washing, and landscaping. The Maintenance Generalist II will manage inventory of equipment and supplies, perform general cleaning and groundskeeping, diagnose mechanical problems, inspect contractor work, assemble plumbing systems, and assist with emergency response. Additionally, the role supports event setup, maintains fuel tanks and generators, completes Fire Marshall Assessments, and ensures the upkeep of equipment, grounds, and buildings. Operation of state and farm vehicles is also required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

Perform monthly preventative maintenance inspection of buildings.
Perform necessary building maintenance and repairs as needed.
Develop and oversee a structured custodial cleaning schedule, including floor waxing, HVAC vent cleaning, carpet and tile maintenance, and workflow coordination for custodial staff.
Provide feedback to Director of building status.
Assist Director with new construction projects approved for PSREU.
Paint or repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, plumbing, countertops, shelves or other parts of building structures.
Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work with estimate costs to repair machinery, equipment or repair structures.
Schedule and track routine maintenance tasks, such as gutter cleaning, air compressor servicing, pressure washing, parking lot debris removal, landscaping (mulching and trimming), and ensuring backflow certifications are up to date.
Oversee inventory of equipment, tools, supplies, and perform price comparison between various options.
Perform general cleaning duties of buildings or property.
Provide grounds keeping service such as landscaping or tree debris removal.
Supervise labor performing these tasks.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them.
Check blueprints, repair manuals or parts catalogs as necessary.
Inspect private contractors work for satisfaction and completion.
Assemble, install or repair pipe systems or plumbing.
Help in catastrophic events around the state with emergency response for IFAS.
Oversee workers when assigned to team.
Assist with setting up electronics, meeting rooms, sound systems and all other duties involved when preparing for classes, tours and events held at PSREU.
Perform monthly fuel tank inspections and submit fuel logs for annual inspection.
Perform fuel tank/gauge/pump repair as needed.
Perform building lockdown at the close of the business each day.
Maintain all portable and set generators for emergency power outages.
Perform monthly checks on set generators.
Complete annual Fire Marshall Assessment of all buildings and correct any violations and/or ADA regulations noted during inspection.
Perform monthly fire marshal inspections.
Maintain equipment used in research operations, and general upkeep of grounds and buildings in work area.
Operate state and farm vehicles in the performance of job duties.
