About The Position

Hawaiian Building Maintenance has been providing quality service since 1957 and is one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. The company is seeking a qualified individual with industry experience to join their team. The Maintenance Floater will be responsible for general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance, while traveling to different locations. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle, and previous hands-on maintenance experience. Proficiency in light plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and painting is required, with all tasks to be performed in accordance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations. Requirements

  • Must pass HBM prescreen check.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must have basic hand tools.
  • General preventative maintenance experience is required (Basic commercial plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and drywall).
  • Troubleshooting abilities.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Must have good public relations skills and communication.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Applicants must perform basic manual labor, clean common areas, frequently lift, press, push, pull, carry a minimum of 50lbs. (up to 75lbs.), be able to reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk, walk up and down a stairway, climb up/down a ladder and stand throughout their shift.
  • Willingness to learn and improve.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs: painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and grounds maintenance
  • Excellent customer service skills to interact with property managers, vendors, customers, etc.
  • Drive to different locations to provide coverage
  • Ensure mechanical equipment and systems are working in order and fixed as necessary.
  • Create and maintain work orders
  • Create and maintain purchase orders
  • Perform any additional maintenance related duties as required by Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) supervisor/property management
