About The Position

Syngenta’s Maintenance team is seeking a Maintenance Engineering Co-op in St. Gabriel, Louisiana. This is a continuous, full-time co-op position for Mechanical Engineering students, working in chemical facility maintenance. The program offers the opportunity to collaborate with experienced industry professionals and contribute to real engineering projects and solutions. The estimated duration is May 2027 through June 2028.

The co-op supports maintenance and reliability engineering through equipment studies, fabrication drawings, engineering testing and feasibility work, small capital projects, and equipment repair documentation. The role also assists Maintenance Engineers with daily work.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering program with junior class standing and good academic standing at the university.
• Completion of relevant core basic science and engineering classes through the sophomore level, such as Physics, Chemistry, Fluid Mechanics, Statics, Strength of Materials, and Thermodynamics.
• Experience with Microsoft Office or equivalent.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States; international students will not be considered given the duration of the position.
• Fluent in English.
• Minimum overall and major GPA of 2.5.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment studies for reliability engineering.
• Create sketches and part drawings for fabrication.
• Develop testing and feasibility studies using fundamental engineering principles.
• Scope and execute small capital projects.
• Develop equipment repair procedures and check sheets.
• Assist Maintenance Engineers in daily work.
