About The Position

The Engineer is responsible for the upkeep, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of ice machines, refrigeration units, air handling units, and other general maintenance needs, in accordance with Shaner Hotels and franchise standards. The role requires a strong background in commercial refrigeration and knowledge of ice machines, industrial chiller systems, and air handling units, along with basic working knowledge of general maintenance procedures. The ideal applicant is customer-service oriented and willing to go the extra mile to make the guest experience memorable.

The position also involves handling guest complaints to ensure guest satisfaction, maintaining quality and cleanliness standards, observing house, safety, departmental, and security procedures, assisting with scheduled inventories, and following maintenance programs and cleaning schedules. Other duties may be assigned. This is a full-time position with benefits; evening, weekend, holiday, and varied shifts may be required.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of experience, preferably in a hotel.
• Strong background in commercial refrigeration.
• Knowledge of ice machines, industrial chiller systems, air handling units, and mechanical equipment critical to building operations.
• Basic working knowledge of general maintenance procedures.
• Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and comply with deadlines for work assignments.
• Ability to interact positively with hotel personnel and provide prompt solutions to problems.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.

• Franchised hotel experience is a plus.
