About The Position

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Maintenance Electrician position at Valmont Salina Galvanizing. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment, including welders, AC/DC motors, overhead cranes, hoists, and other types of installations. The ideal candidate will be a highly driven individual committed to supporting the preventative maintenance schedule, making unforeseen repairs, troubleshooting, and installing new or repaired equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Three years of previous experience in an electronic maintenance related position
  • Three years of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • State electrical license
  • 480 electrical background
  • Possess a basic knowledge of PLC logic to troubleshoot and or repair the CNC equipment
  • Certified to run forklifts, man-lifts, cranes and all manufacturing equipment
  • Computer experience for input and retrieval of data
  • The ability to read and decipher blueprints, schematics manufacturer specification manuals, state and federal code books and references without assistance and use them to properly perform the required maintenance installations, or tasks
  • The ability to calculate formulas using basic mathematics and standard U.S. and Metric Measurements
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • At the end of 90 Calendar days the candidate must be able to maintain an acceptable level of production, quality and attendance as determined by Management
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Nice To Haves

  • One year of previous experience operating a forklift
  • One year of previous experience with overhead crane operations
  • One year of previous experience operating hand and/or power tools in a professional environment
  • The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • The ability to effectively interpret and present information both one-on-one and in front of an audience

Responsibilities

  • Work from the direction of the Manager to support the preventative maintenance schedule, make unforeseen repairs, troubleshoot and install new or repaired equipment.
  • Perform a variety of electrical-trade functions in the installation, maintenance or repair of equipment for generating, distribution and/or utilization of electric energy in an establishment.
  • Install or repair any of a variety of electrical equipment, such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layout or other specifications.
  • Locate and diagnose trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
  • Communicate with Supervisors, Operations Manager, and General Manager regarding problems and estimated times for repairs.
  • Work standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment using a variety of electrician’s hand tools, measuring and testing instruments.
  • Learn aspects of mechanical and electrical maintenance throughout the shop.
  • Perform other duties as directed by leaders and management.
  • Actively participate in department safety and demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures.
