About The Position

This function involves contributing in the maintaining of automation systems/machinery used in production. This includes: troubleshooting, program changes, and repairs. Also does PLC programming, including: Process control systems, PLC’s, Servo controls and Ladder logic components. To ensure the safety and quality of the products that the line produces. Requirements

  • Knowledge of PLC software.
  • Basic knowledge of programming PLC’s, Variable Frequency drives, Servo Drive, HMI’s.
  • Ability to access and troubleshoot equipment using a laptop computer with PLC program.
  • Proficiency with at least one manufacturer of PLC, VFD’s and Servo devices (e.g., Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron).
  • Ability to tune, adjust, reprogram control devices.
  • Ability to make simple circuit schematics.
  • Ability to maintain equipment schematics up-to-date.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar position.
  • Experience with high volume, fully or semi-automatic mechanical assembly manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as panel design and layout, bill of materials, and wiring schematic capabilities, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively in front of vendors or employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Maintenance work order- PM software.
  • Ability to apply common sense to understanding and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to resolve and deal with simple problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations within the production processing operation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fast learner.

Nice To Haves

  • A BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering.
  • Robotic experience.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Contributing in the maintaining of automation systems/machinery used in production, including troubleshooting, program changes, and repairs.
  • Performing PLC programming, including Process control systems, PLC’s, Servo controls and Ladder logic components.
  • Ensuring the safety and quality of the products that the line produces.
  • Connecting laptop computer to PLC’s and other peripheral devices.
  • Accessing and troubleshooting equipment using a laptop computer with PLC program.
  • Tuning, adjusting, and reprogramming control devices to maintain proper process operation of equipment.
  • Making simple circuit schematics for the intent of adding devices to equipment to optimize performance.
  • Maintaining equipment schematics for equipment up-to-date when modifications are performed.
  • Assisting in implementation of automated industrial assembly machines and production lines utilizing robotics, linear motion components, conveyors.
  • Performing modifications to equipment and machinery, as needed, to maintain optimal performance and production efficiencies.
  • Repairing breakdowns in electrical machinery.
  • Using computerized Maintenance work system program for work orders, PM’s and placing orders for parts as needed.
  • Completing preventative maintenance checks and performing scheduled and unscheduled repairs to equipment.
  • Working with contractors and vendors on special projects in production or other departments.
  • Constructing parts/equipment from raw materials.
  • Building parts/equipment by following blueprints.
  • Working with electric, 5VDC up to 480 volts 3 phase.
  • Working with or within other departments to improve the production process.
  • Maintaining tools and keeping them in good working order.
  • Performing cleaning details and tasks/assignments as assigned by the employee's supervisor(s).
  • Attending safety/sanitation meetings, production meetings and quality control meetings as necessary.
  • Following manual instructions or contacting machine manufacturer when problems arise.
  • Performing other tasks and duties as assigned.
