About The Position

Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on electrical and mechanical systems involving production equipment and plant systems, including the plant’s main power supply system. Performs minor and major repairs of all buildings and production equipment. Repairs electrical equipment/systems and control circuits; and replaces faulty electrical equipment as needed. This troubleshooting element is inclusive of Three-phase Motors and Programmable Logical Controls (PLC) applications. Must have a working knowledge of relay logic and be capable of applying this knowledge in troubleshooting the PLCs in the production equipment. Must have a strong understanding of NFPA 70E standards and be capable of applying these standards in the work situation. May operate a computer that controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems. Calibrates and repairs pneumatic systems and other mechanical systems on production equipment to assure optimum performance of that production process. Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures. Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner. Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment. Adheres to the production maintenance schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, and service goals. Reports any unusual scheduling issues to the Supervisor /Manager. Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping. Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Military training and/or Technical School preferred
  • 2-3 years of Electro-Mechanical Automation System Installation & Troubleshooting Experience.
  • Operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery which includes motors, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3-phase power, communication devices, industrial/electronic controls, and power transmission systems.
  • Good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Strong PLC troubleshooting and problem-solving ability with practical, mechanical & electrical aptitude.
  • Must be able to read and interpret both electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Must be fully computer literate in Microsoft environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently maturely and professionally.
  • Ability to work various shifts/overtime/days per week.
  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, decimals, measurements, volume, and rates.
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities, product/machine layouts and machine specifications, product quality specifications, and quality standards.
