About The Position

Corning is seeking a skilled Maintenance Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is essential to ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an industrial or manufacturing electrician.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including 3 phase power, control circuits, and automation.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Familiarity with PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar) and industrial automation equipment.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing and diagnostic tools.
  • Understanding of NFPA 70E, NEC, and OSHA safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high demand environment.
  • Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to run and install conduit
  • Knowledge of Arm Flash and Arc blast. Understands the dangers associated with it and how to read Arc flash labels.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an electrical apprenticeship or technical program preferred.
  • State or journeyman electrician license (strongly preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems, including motors, PLCs, control panels, and power distribution equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical issues using testing devices such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and thermal imaging tools.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production machinery to minimize downtime.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
  • Install and troubleshoot industrial automation systems, including sensors, VFDs, and relay logic.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and system modifications.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, new installations, and plant expansion projects.
