This occupation requires the repair, installation, and maintenance of plant electrical systems and equipment. The Maintenance Electrician "A" determines the routing, location, and method of installing wiring systems, conduits, electrical equipment, fixtures, and accessories, following trade practices, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and applicable state, municipal, and underwriters’ specifications, codes, and ordinances. This role involves determining the need for repair or replacement and the best and safest method for restoring interrupted service. It also includes computing wire gauge, power, and load limit requirements when necessary. The position performs construction and maintenance operations such as installing and maintaining large motors, transformer banks, welding generators, panels, electrical control systems, and switchboards. Work may involve repair and installation on energized electrical circuits. The role includes maintaining electrical systems and accessories on plant machines and equipment, or determining by inspection the electrical repair, replacement, and maintenance operations necessary to maintain efficient operating condition of all types of overhead crane and hoist equipment. This includes maintaining electrical accessories, control devices, wiring, and other components of the system, and making emergency repairs as required. Alternatively, the role involves disassembling, repairing, and reassembling motors, generators, exciters, and converters, diagnosing trouble, and determining the method of repair and replacement units required. This includes replacing parts and units, reassembling equipment, and testing for conformance to specifications. The role also performs mechanical operations necessary for dismantling, disassembly, repair, and installation of electrical units.
