About The Position

This position is for a welder fabricator who will be responsible for welding and fabricating metal components, reading and interpreting blueprints, operating welding equipment, and ensuring the quality and accuracy of the finished product. The role may also involve using hand and power tools, performing inspections and maintenance on equipment, and following safety protocols. This role is specifically for current team members at the Monroe facility or complex. Team members interested in transferring from other Tyson facilities should contact their local HR Partner.

Requirements

A minimum of 6 months of mechanic work experience documented in the work history section of the application OR be a graduate and/or student of an industrial maintenance training program. (Can be a combination of employers as long as experience is at least 6 months).
Must be able to safely operate hand and power tools and shop equipment.
Must be capable of reading blueprints, specifications, sketches, and work orders.
Must be capable of performing close tolerance work to meet layout print specifications.
Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

Experience with TIG welding, ARC welding, and MIG welding.
Experience with metal shear, metal brake, drill press, metal lathe, plasma cutter, and oxy-acetylene torch.
Experience welding in multiple positions (flat, vertical, horizontal, overhead).
Experience performing machining with lathe, broaching tools, drilling, and tapping.

Responsibilities

Fabricating and erecting assigned tasks using various types of metals including stainless steel, galvanized, and black iron, ranging from angle iron, channel iron, round, and flat stock.
Performing TIG welding, ARC welding, and MIG welding.
Safely operating hand and power tools and shop equipment such as metal shear, metal brake, drill press, metal lathe, plasma cutter, and oxy-acetylene torch.
Welding in multiple positions: flat, vertical, horizontal, or overhead.
Reading blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and planning layout, assembly, and welding operations.
Performing close tolerance work to meet layout print specifications using calipers, micrometers, etc., as needed.
Setting up and operating welding and fabricating equipment according to blueprints, sketches, or verbal orders.
Examining parts for defects and measuring parts to ensure conformance with specifications.
Performing machining with lathe, broaching tools, drilling, tapping, and other machining functions.
Maintaining tools and equipment, including shop tools, welding/cutting gauges, and welding equipment, in a safe, clean, and orderly manner.
Following company policies and procedures, with special attention to safety regulations.
Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
