The Maintenance Custodial Technician performs both custodial and basic maintenance duties to ensure campus facilities are clean, safe, and in good working condition. This role supports daily operations by essential facility services and minor repairs. Major Responsibilities: Routine Cleaning - Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, common areas, offices, corridors, lounges, carpets, and hard floor surfaces. Responsibilities include emptying trash and recycling, refilling restrooms, and cleaning supplies. Maintain inventory and restock supplies. Event Support - Assist with custodial and janitorial needs for campus events, including maintaining restrooms, event spaces, entrances, lobbies, and common areas. Support room set up for classes, meetings, and events. Work Order Task - Complete work orders related to repairs and general maintenance in a timely and efficient manner. Emergency Response- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies such as spills, accidents, and safety concerns. Report maintenance or safety issues to supervisors. Safety & Compliance - Use cleaning equipment and supplies safely. Follow all Ivy Tech safety policies, established cleaning standards, and applicable OSHA guidelines. Properly handle and store cleaning chemicals using Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Report unsafe conditions and incidents to a supervisor. Assist Security - Secure of all facilities at completion of operations. Provide assistance to campus security when needed and ensure proper key control. Customer Service and Student Advocacy - Demonstrate strong customer service by being approachable, adaptable, and solution-focused. Show a positive attitude and support student success by addressing concerns in a professional manner. Maintenance Duties: Perform basic maintenance tasks such as light plumbing, painting, bulb replacement, and minor repairs. Assist with preventative maintenance projects to support the overall upkeep and functionality of campus facilities. Identify, troubleshoot, and report maintenance or safety issues, exercising sound judgment in determining when to escalate concerns. Use hand and power tools safely and in accordance with established procedures. Assist with seasonal duties (e.g., snow removal, deep cleaning) as needed. Perform tasks with a moderate level of independence while adhering to established guidelines and seeking guidance when appropriate. This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list.
