About The Position

The Maintenance Crew Leader I performs various duties including driving a dump truck and operating equipment, as well as making small repairs and daily maintenance to trucks and equipment used. Other duties include construction related to street and drainage installation and/or maintenance. This position will be assigned to the Public Works Streets Department.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
Valid Texas Class "A" Commercial Driver's License
Two years of experience in operation of vehicles and light equipment
Ability to understand and abide by City of Conroe and Departmental policies and procedures
Must be able to lift weights of 50 pounds and 100 pounds with assistance
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
Capable of reading, writing and speaking in English
Must pass background check and pre-employment substance abuse screening
A motor vehicle record check and job-related doctor's physical exam may also be required

Responsibilities

Driving dump truck and operating equipment
Making small repairs and daily maintenance to trucks and equipment
Construction related to street and drainage installation and/or maintenance
Work on call duty and respond at any hour during an emergency when requested
Attend after hours classes to renew or obtain required certifications/licenses when necessary
Work as many hours needed to get the work assigned completed
Conduct routine maintenance to vehicles and equipment
Use all tools to accomplish the job in an efficient manner
Adapt to new technology, new methods and changing conditions
Communicate using a two-way radio
