About The Position

The Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Coordinator serves as the central link between production/operation, maintenance, engineering, and reliability teams. Their purpose is to ensure equipment is maintained safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Past experience in Mechanical Maintenance
  • Knowledge of PCs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project

Nice To Haves

  • Additional Vocational Training a plus
  • 2+ years Paper Mill Supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensures systems are being followed to secure and prepare equipment for work, including managing and maintaining lock-out/tag out systems and procedures.
  • Ensures all required operations materials, permits, and labor resources are ready before work begins, including for hot works, confined spaces, sniffers, line break permits, lockouts procedures, and lockout supplies.
  • Leads daily maintenance and production coordination meetings.
  • Works with day maintenance to develop and maintain daily, weekly, and shutdown maintenance schedules.
  • Prioritizes work orders based on safety, production impact, and asset criticality.
  • Reviews, screens, and approves incoming work requests for clarity and priority.
  • Coordinates operations to secure equipment downtime windows for maintenance, identifying items that can be secured 'on the run' versus those requiring a 'shut down'.
  • Serves as the primary communication link between production crews and maintenance teams.
  • Communicates equipment issues, downtime needs, and maintenance priorities to and from operations crews, informing shift supervisors about preparations needed for day maintenance.
  • Develops detailed outage plans for operations outlining lockout needs, operational outage task details, and personnel responsibilities.
  • Assists in developing job plans for recurring tasks and major repairs, such as helping develop clothing change SOPs.
  • Interprets operator’s troubleshooting information and ensures its accuracy when communicating to maintenance.
  • Participates in root cause analysis for equipment and process failures.
  • Identifies chronic equipment and operational issues and helps implement long-term solutions.
  • Documents changes, delays, and lessons learned for future planning and to prevent repeat failures.
  • Manages process chemical inventories such as acid, alum, and specialty chemicals.
  • Works with Admin Assistant and Operational Support Leads to order storeroom materials and track critical spares and operations materials.
