About The Position

Goddard Riverside is a well-established Manhattan community-based agency with an annual operating budget of approximately $50 million. Goddard Riverside is one of New York City’s leading human service organizations meeting the basic needs of children, youth and families, homeless people, and older adults across Manhattan and New York City. The Maintenance Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the organization’s mission by ensuring that all facilities are maintained in a safe, functional, and efficient manner. This position coordinates and oversees maintenance activities, oversees facility tasks, tracks inventory, and assists the Facilities Manager with follow-up on NYCHA tickets and repairs. The ideal candidate is has great attention to details, organized, proactive, and committed to providing responsive service in a face paced environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in maintenance/facilities preferred
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform simple maintenance task and repairs
  • Ability to use small hand tools

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of Youth and Older Adult Centers to ensure facilities remain safe, clean, and welcoming.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance in alignment with the organization’s mission and operational goals.
  • Ensure daily proper room setup for regular programming, meetings, and special events.
  • Perform touch-up painting, patching of small holes, address minor drywall damage, and replace ceiling tiles to maintain a professional facility appearance as needed.
  • Ability to complete minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other repairs as needed.
  • Perform seasonal tasks, including snow shoveling and salt application, as needed to maintain safe building access.
  • Assist with project management planning and delivery of results with projects such as capital improvement as needed.
  • Oversee floor care and maintenance, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and routine upkeep.
  • Monitor building conditions and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist with building wide reporting as requested by the Facilities Manager.
  • Coordinate maintenance staff by providing daily work direction and monitoring workloads.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and ongoing development among maintenance staff.
  • Demonstrate professionalism when engaging with youth, older adults, vendors and staff.
  • Track and manage maintenance inventory, including tools, supplies, and materials.
  • Alert the Facilities Manager when cleaning supplies or equipment are running low to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Ensure responsible use of resources while maintaining safety and compliance standards.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in monitoring and following up on NYCHA service tickets and repair requests.
  • Support project management planning and execution as assigned by the Facilities Manager or Directors.
  • Perform other related tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and organizational needs.
  • This position is categorized as essential and will require physical presence during inclement weather and NYC and state of emergency.
