About The Position

Responsible to the Maintenance Control Supervisor, this role involves performing assigned duties related to aircraft maintenance control. The specialist must be thoroughly familiar with assigned tasks and, when authorized, can be certified to release aircraft as "safe for flight." Key responsibilities include initiating and screening completed work orders for accuracy, assigning Job Control Numbers (JCNs), distributing work orders, and completing maintenance data forms. The role also requires maintaining the Aircraft Discrepancy Book (ADB) and Maintenance Data System (MDS) in accordance with Navy and company instructions, verifying MDS data, and coordinating aircraft rinse sheets. Additionally, the specialist may assist in scheduling aircraft into the maintenance program, assigning logistics priorities for parts, and controlling ground movement of aircraft when qualified and authorized. The position also entails monitoring the line move crew, maintaining work area cleanliness, adhering to Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention and Tool Control programs, and complying with safety regulations. Documentation of work is required on government and company mandated information systems. The role also involves ensuring proper grounding and placement of drip pans, stowing equipment, assisting aircraft handlers, and ensuring the safety, security, inventory, and preservation of government and company equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have two (2) years specialized experience in aviation maintenance control.
  • Must meet formal training requirements to be certified to release aircraft safe for flight.
  • Must meet any other qualification standards imposed by the government contract not covered by this agreement.

  • One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned duties as directed by the Maintenance Control Supervisor.
  • Become thoroughly familiar with assigned aircraft issue tasks.
  • Initiate, screen completed work orders for correct entries and data.
  • Assign Job Control Numbers (JCNs).
  • Distribute work orders.
  • Complete maintenance data forms and screen for completeness and correctness.
  • Initiate work orders for inspections.
  • Maintain Aircraft Discrepancy Book (ADB).
  • Maintain Maintenance Data System (MDS).
  • Verify MDS with Material, ADB, and work centers.
  • Coordinate and maintain aircraft rinse sheets.
  • Assist in scheduling aircraft into the Maintenance Program to ensure maximum availability of assets.
  • Assign logistics priorities for required parts.
  • Control and direct ground movement of aircraft in support of the maintenance effort.
  • Monitor and assist the line move crew when operating inside the hangar.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work center and assigned work area.
  • Adhere to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to the Tool Control Program.
  • Comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations.
  • Document work accomplished on government and company mandated/provided electronic and/or manual Information Systems.
  • Ensure proper grounding and placement of drip pans following aircraft placement in hangar.
  • Ensure grounding cables and drip pans are stowed after aircraft are moved from hangar.
  • Assist aircraft handlers in closing hangar doors during inclement weather.
  • Assist in ensuring the safety, security, inventory and preservation of Government owned and Company owned equipment.
  • Perform other related duties within the job classification.
