About The Position

Murdoch Developmental Center is a 24/7 state residential facility located in Butner, NC, near the Research Triangle area, serving individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). The Plant Maintenance Section ensures the successful operation of the physical plant and facility infrastructure. This role is responsible for all aspects of building maintenance, including renovation, repair, and functional alteration of 600,000 square feet of building space. Work assignments include tasks such as door adjustments, lock repair and installation, cabinetry, furniture repair, pouring and finishing concrete, masonry, vinyl and ceramic tile replacement and installation, roofing, and fabrication of adaptive items for clients. Work involves the use of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment, and is reviewed by a supervisor for quality and compliance with work orders. This position is designated as mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.
Must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

Nice To Haves

Some experience in carpentry work or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Some experience in locksmith work or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Some skill in the use of tools, materials and equipment commonly used in the performance of carpentry work
Locksmith license
Valid Driver’s License
Experience in commercial/industrial maintenance environment
2 years’ experience in carpentry work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
1 year of experience in locksmith work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
