About The Position

Unity House is seeking a dependable, hands-on individual to help maintain its buildings, grounds, and program locations. The role includes general repairs and painting, minor remodeling projects, and event setup. The position involves staying active and working on a variety of tasks throughout the day. It also includes responding to property maintenance emergencies as part of a 24-hour on-call rotation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• General maintenance, remodeling, or light construction experience, including basic plumbing and electrical knowledge.
• Ability to safely operate power tools.
• Valid and clean New York State driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and remain on your feet for most of the workday.
• Ability to work outdoors as needed.
• Flexibility to participate in an on-call rotation and work occasional evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and upkeep of agency buildings, program locations, and grounds.
• Complete apartment demolition.
• Install sheetrock and perform taping, sanding, painting, and other light construction tasks.
• Complete basic plumbing and electrical repairs.
• Assist with moving furniture, filing cabinets, equipment, and other items as needed.
• Help set up and break down agency events.
• Assist with organizing and maintaining storage units.
• Respond to property maintenance emergencies as part of a 24-hour on-call rotation; assess situations, make repairs when qualified, and escalate issues when necessary.
