Maintenance Assistant - Contract
About The Position
Ecuhome is a Toronto-based non-profit organization that provides quality affordable housing and support for people who have experienced homelessness. Under the direction of the Properties and Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for the custodial maintenance and physical conditions of Ecuhome properties in a manner that meets Ecuhome standards and in accordance with all municipal/provincial housing/building regulations.
Requirements
- High school graduate
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the maintenance of multi-unit residential settings or related experience
- Some familiarity with electricity, plumbing and carpentry and general maintenance repairs
- A working knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation and codes governing housing/building safety
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to positively interact with a tenant population where mental health and addictions challenges are present
Responsibilities
- Carrying out all required janitorial, grounds keeping and other related tasks
- Cleaning and upkeeping all common areas at Ecuhome properties
- Cleaning and preparing rooms prior to tenant occupancy
- Ensuring that waste is removed from properties and that walkways and parking areas are free of ice/snow and other debris
- Assisting Maintenance Workers in providing maintenance services and identifying preventative and on-going maintenance needs
