About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Maintenance Assistant provides organization, sanitation, and general and preventative maintenance in assigned areas. The role is responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of supplies and may be assigned to other Parks locations as needed based on department operations. The scheduled days are Saturday and Sunday, from 2:30 PM to close; shift times may be adjusted based on scheduled events and business needs.

Requirements

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of tools and equipment used in landscaping and groundskeeping work, including pressure-cleaning equipment.
• Valid Florida driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Inspect park facilities for safety issues.
• Spray for weeds and other plant material.
• Paint athletic fields.
• Transport equipment to the west side for repairs and maintenance.
• Mow athletic fields.
• Pick up stick and other trash around the park.
• Clean restrooms.
• Pressure-clean park amenities.
• Complete daily and weekly logs and inspections.
• Perform basic landscape maintenance.
• Participate in group projects.
• Drag and line ball fields.
• Remove trash from trash cans.
• Pick up landscape debris.
• Turn on field lights for permits and turn them off at the end of the night.
• Check that people have the proper permits.
• Open and close restrooms and park gates.
