About The Position

The Maintenance Assistant supports residents’ health and safety by helping maintain a safe, sanitary, and attractive environment for residents and staff. The role assists with a standardized preventive maintenance program to support the performance and appearance of the facility’s buildings, grounds, systems, and equipment, contributing to high standards of care and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• One to three months of related experience and/or training.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• One year of previous experience in a healthcare or assisted living environment.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Help carry out the ongoing preventive maintenance program and schedule.
• Help maintain kitchen, housekeeping, and laundry equipment, as well as heating and cooling units.
• Assist with miscellaneous repairs and upkeep of the building structure, including hallways, walls, ceilings, floors, baseboards, door jambs, and handrails.
• Remove ice and snow from all exits during winter.
• Perform light maintenance duties such as stocking supplies, taking out trash, cleaning and straightening equipment rooms, replacing filters, and cleaning ventilation ducts.
• Follow safety procedures when using solvents, cleaning chemicals, ladders, electrical tools and equipment, and when lifting and transporting supplies and equipment.
• Help with resident admissions and room changes, including moving furniture or other items and helping residents hang pictures.
