Maintenance Assistant - 3rd Shift

About The Position

The Maintenance Assistant performs basic, lower-skilled mechanical tasks on poultry processing equipment according to specifications and in compliance with company policies and procedures. The role is in Maintenance Second Processing on the third shift, from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The listed pay is $23.70. Benefits are available from day one, and on-the-job training is provided.

Requirements

Mechanical aptitude.
Ability to communicate (speak and write) and comprehend English.
Ability to work unsupervised, complete tasks, and self-motivate.
Ability to work in wet and cold environments (45°F/4°C) or hot and humid environments.
Ability to traverse the facility, including stairs and/or ladders when required.
Ability to inspect and work on all parts of equipment, including the top, sides, interior, and underneath.
Good visual skills, including the ability to see and accurately distinguish colors.
Ability to lift 75 pounds.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
Knowledge of and experience working on poultry processing equipment is preferred.
Experience driving a forklift and/or pallet jack, or the ability to learn and become certified.

Responsibilities

Perform routine equipment maintenance, including adjusting or replacing belts and changing oil in pumps.
Change parts or assist maintenance technicians with work orders.
Clean and maintain the work area, tools, and equipment.
Report unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
Perform other duties assigned by the Line Leader or Supervisor.
Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
Wear required protective equipment in areas where it is mandatory.
