About The Position

Performs light repair and maintenance work including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall, painting, carpentry, pest control, and flooring. May perform custodial work as needed at various facility locations; program areas, storage areas, restrooms, gyms and other building interiors as well as maintenance of exterior grounds; landscaping and parking lots.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or tech school education, preferred.
  • Minimum two years related experience in a maintenance environment.
  • Ability to perform, but not limited to, the following skills: carpentry, plumbing, drywall, electrical, painting, and HVAC.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Working knowledge in the safe use of, and able to come in contact with cleaning chemicals, oils or petroleum products, solvents, degreasers, pesticides, herbicides, paints, adhesives, and other similar products.
  • Working knowledge in the use of personal protective equipment such as respirators (including dust, paint, and chemical cartridge), gloves (including electrical), ear plugs and headsets, goggles or safety glasses, face shields, etc.
  • Working knowledge in the safe methods of lifting and use of ladders.
  • Working knowledge in the safe operation of industrial vacuum cleaners, and scrubbing and buffing machines.
  • Experience in the use of power tools including, but not limited to, saws, drills, mowers, and other yard equipment.
  • Ability to effectively work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints and handle multiple demands from several people.
  • Ability to work occasional irregular or extended hours.
  • Ability to interact well with the public and co-workers.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Ability to work with care and caution in close proximity to multi-age children at play; in loud noise areas with hearing protection (when needed), alone (not within shouting distance of others), and be directly responsible for the safety and well-being of others.
  • Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods; sit and walk quickly occasionally.
  • Ability to squat, stoop and kneel for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to reach forward and to bend or twist at the neck and trunk occasionally.
  • Ability to repeat the same hand, arm or finger motion many times.
  • Ability to climb on ladders to ceiling and roof levels and to perform work on roofs up to three stories high.
  • Must have excellent hand and grip strength; manual and finger dexterity sufficient to operate heavy hand and power tools.
  • Ability to drive vans, pick-up trucks (up to % ton) and automobiles regularly to club facility locations and vendors/suppliers in Clark County; distance driving occasionally.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly from floor to waist, waist to shoulder and shoulder to overhead; 40 pounds from floor to waist regularly and from waist to shoulder and shoulder to overhead occasionally; and up to 70 pounds to overhead with assistance.
  • Ability to push and pull items up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 90 pounds occasionally (usually on wheeled equipment) over carpeted and tiled floors, blacktop, paved and dirt roads, concrete and other rough outdoor surfaces.
  • Ability to carry items up to 30 pounds regularly; and up to 50 pounds occasionally to a distance up to 25 feet.
  • Ability to work both inside and outside regularly; in temperatures below 32 degrees and above 100 degrees occasionally; on slippery surfaces and in inclement weather occasionally; in confined spaces and/or cramped body positions and over 6 feet off the ground occasionally.
  • Ability to see distant objects and close work clearly; tell differences among colors, hear conversations in quiet and noisy environments; tell from where a sound is coming, and hear differences among bells, buzzers, beeps, horns, etc.
  • Must have very good depth perception.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through speech.
  • Ability to come in contact with gases, fumes sprays, with proper personal protective equipment.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, with valid Nevada driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Use of a personal vehicle may be required and mileage is reimbursed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and typical repair and maintenance on interior and exterior of facilities.
  • Perform light repair tasks including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting, repair of equipment, drywall patching, taping and painting.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and regular preventive maintenance on equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain records of when maintenance and service is performed.
  • Detect and report defective materials, suspected and/or actual safety hazards or questionable conditions to the Facilities Manager and/or Area Director.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Maintain pest control in facilities using proper pest control equipment and pesticides.
  • Maintain all work areas, equipment, storage and repair shop in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Power wash exterior walkways, rake shrub bed areas, remove leaves from grounds and parking lots.
  • Maintain landscaping; mow lawns, clip and trim scrubs and trees.
  • Maintain sprinkler systems.
  • Vacuum, mop, scrub, wax and polish floors using industrial vacuum cleaner and scrubbing and buffing machine.
  • Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas.
  • May remove stains from such surfaces as carpet, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
  • Replace A/C filters.
  • Other duties as assigned.
