About The Position

Ashford Hall Nursing & Rehabilitation is seeking a Full-Time Maintenance Assistant for their facility. This role is responsible for maintaining the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all applicable standards, guidelines, regulations, and company policies. The position ensures that maintenance schedules are followed and coordinates daily maintenance services with nursing services when working in resident living areas. Safety is a key component, requiring adherence to fire safety and general safety procedures, proper use of safety equipment, and maintaining a clean and hazard-free work environment. The role also involves proper handling of material safety data sheets (MSDSs) and reporting any unsafe conditions or defective equipment immediately. The Maintenance Assistant must ensure their work areas are clean and equipment is properly stored before leaving.

Requirements

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma
  • Facility Maintenance Experience - 1 year (required)
  • Ability to maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to follow established maintenance schedules.
  • Ability to report accidents/incidents promptly.
  • Ability to coordinate maintenance services with nursing staff.
  • Knowledge of fire safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to follow all established safety procedures and precautions.
  • Proficiency in using safety equipment when lifting or moving heavy objects.
  • Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
  • Awareness of hazardous conditions and ability to prevent them.
  • Understanding of material safety data sheets (MSDSs) and related policies.
  • Ability to report unsafe/hazardous conditions and defective equipment immediately.
  • Skill in properly storing equipment, tools, and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by your supervisor, to assure that a successful maintenance program is maintained at all times.
  • Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift or area.
  • Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
  • Follow established fire safety policies and procedures.
  • Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when performing maintenance services.
  • Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc.) when lifting or moving heavy objects.
  • Maintain facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean and orderly environment.
  • Keep your work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times.
  • Refer to material safety data sheets (MSDSs) when necessary.
  • Follow established policies governing the use of labels and MSDSs.
  • Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., to your supervisor immediately.
  • Ensure that work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator.
