MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT - RESIDENTIAL GROUP HOMES
About The Position
Mary Cariola Center is seeking a Maintenance Assistant for its residential group homes. This role involves maintaining and monitoring building systems, performing routine preventative maintenance, and handling interior and exterior property upkeep. The position also includes vehicle maintenance, ensuring life safety devices are functional, constructing therapy materials, transporting equipment, assisting with pool maintenance, and responding to emergencies. Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid NYS Driver’s License
- Experience in drywall repair and painting
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English including interpreting documents such as safety rules and policy and procedure manuals
Nice To Haves
- 6 months to 1 year related experience
- General knowledge of building systems (plumbing, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, etc.), blueprints and building code
Responsibilities
- Maintain and monitor all residential building systems; performing routine preventative maintenance as necessary (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
- Provide interior improvements such as patching drywall, painting, making repairs to equipment and appliances, etc. as needed
- Maintain exterior premises of the residential property including snow removal, grass cutting, gardening, tree pruning, etc.
- Ensure all residential vehicles are maintained properly and that all necessary inspections are completed
- Maintain and monitor required Life Safety devices
- Construct simple therapy/residential materials and/or equipment as designed by the treatment team to paint, varnish and/or cover such materials and/or equipment
- Transport materials and/or equipment between residences
- Assist in the opening and closing of the pool where applicable
- Tend to emergencies that may arise
- Other duties as assigned
