About The Position

The Maintainer, under supervision, will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, including refrigeration systems, cooling towers, steam and hot water boiler plants, air distribution, controls and building management systems, as well as perform related work. This role involves performing general mechanical room maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and masonry, with a specific focus on HVAC systems across all Garden facilities. The position also requires performing related work as required by the NYBG within all on-site and off-site facilities, including special projects, events, and temporary places of assembly.

Requirements

High School Graduate or GED
Certificate from trade school in HVAC/R or 3-5 years in related position in the HVAC/R industry
A Type II EPA Certification for reclamation of refrigerants
A Valid driver's license

A NYFD Refrigeration License

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, including refrigeration systems, cooling towers, steam and hot water boiler plants, air distribution, controls and building management systems.
Perform related work in and around all Garden facilities including equipment diagnostics and repair.
Respond to emergency equipment failures.
Ensure safety compliance.
Perform all types of general mechanical room maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and masonry.
Perform HVAC maintenance in all Garden facilities.
Perform related work as required by the NYBG within all on-site and off-site facilities, including special projects, events, and temporary places of assembly.
