About The Position

The State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) is currently recruiting for one (1) full-time Maintainer position at Platt Technical High School in Milford, CT. CTECS is seeking a dependable and hands-on Maintainer to join the team at Platt Technical High School. In this role, you will play an essential part in keeping the school grounds, walkways, and facilities safe, clean, functional, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors. You will have the opportunity to work outdoors and operate a variety of hand and power equipment while performing groundskeeping, landscaping, snow removal, and general maintenance duties. From mowing lawns and trimming shrubs to clearing walkways, maintaining drainage areas, moving supplies, and performing preventive maintenance and minor repairs on grounds equipment, your work will make a visible difference every day. Requirements

• Adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility, visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of the class.

Nice To Haves

• Maintenance experience in a school setting or large building.
• Experience with lawn care, such as mowing grass and managing weeds and brush.
• Experience removing snow and ice from stairways and walkways around large buildings.
• Experience performing minor maintenance on tools and equipment used in daily work.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the cleaning of kitchen and other food service areas and of equipment
• Performing basic tasks of an unskilled nature in one or several of the following areas: Building and equipment maintenance (operational and remedial); Grounds care; Food services; Operation of trucks of less than five (5) ton capacity; Parking garage.
• Mowing lawns and trimming shrubs
