About The Position

The Maintainer works under supervision to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems and related equipment. Systems include refrigeration systems, cooling towers, steam and hot water boiler plants, air distribution, controls, and building management systems. The position also performs related work in Garden facilities, including equipment diagnostics and repairs, emergency responses to equipment failures, and safety compliance. Duties may take place at on-site and off-site facilities, including special projects, events, and temporary places of assembly.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• Certificate from a trade school in HVAC/R or 3–5 years of experience in a related HVAC/R position.
• Type II EPA Certification for reclamation of refrigerants.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to move over 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• NYFD Refrigeration License.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, including refrigeration systems, cooling towers, steam and hot water boiler plants, air distribution, controls, and building management systems.
• Perform equipment diagnostics and repairs in and around Garden facilities.
• Respond to equipment failures and comply with safety requirements.
• Perform general mechanical-room maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, and masonry, with a focus on HVAC.
• Perform related work at on-site and off-site facilities, including special projects, events, and temporary places of assembly.
• Perform other related work as required by NYBG.
