About The Position

This position is responsible for keeping facilities and equipment operating, and repairing any identified problems. The role handles a variety of issues, covering everything from housing apartments to HVAC units. The Maintenance Tech will be responsible for the safe upkeep of facilities such as Access houses or admin offices. Duties include completing assigned work orders from start to finish, inspecting houses and admin buildings, maintaining an inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies, and scheduling repairs. The role also involves working collaboratively with the site team when necessary, performing snow cleanup in winter, mowing grass in spring and fall, and operating motorized equipment as trained and assigned. Additionally, this position will support other departments with building, moving, or transferring office furniture or equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in general maintenance and in a maintenance specialty
  • Specialization in one or more trade (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, landscaping, etc.)
  • Understanding of basic principles when troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or plumbing issues
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance principles
  • Ability to handle painting and landscaping assignments to the standards of the agency
  • Willingness to improve skill set through informal apprenticeship
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to handle and work with tools
  • Skilled in a variety of areas including light plumbing, HVAC, appliance repair, carpentry, and light electrical systems
  • Landscaping and snow removal skills required
  • Ability to operate motorized equipment such as snow removal or other equipment as trained and assigned
  • Must be capable to sit or stand for long-periods of time
  • Must be able to twist to reach equipment surrounding work area
  • Must be able to talk, see and hear with sufficient acuity to successfully perform all aspects of the job
  • Must perform simple grasping or fine manipulation
  • Must be able to use a telephone and have some computer knowledge
  • Must be capable to move throughout work day
  • Work alongside co-workers within 3 feet
  • Must be able to move in tight spaces
  • Must be able to climb stairs/ladders
  • Occasional lifting of > 50+ pounds
