About The Position

A Maintenance Tech is responsible for keeping the facilities and equipment operating and repairing any problems that are identified. This position will handle a variety of different issues as it covers everything from housing apartments to HVAC units. This position will support other departments in their requests for building/moving/transferring office furniture or equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in general maintenance and in a maintenance specialty
  • Specialization in one or more trade (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, landscaping, etc.)
  • Understand basic principles when troubleshooting mechanical, electrical or plumbing issues
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance principles
  • Ability to handle painting and landscaping assignments to the standards of the agency
  • Willingness to improve skill set through informal apprenticeship
  • Must be capable to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to twist to reach equipment surrounding work area
  • Must be able to talk, see and hear with sufficient acuity to successfully perform all aspects of the job
  • Must perform simple grasping or fine manipulation
  • Must be able to use a telephone
  • Must have some computer knowledge
  • Must be capable to move throughout work day
  • Work alongside co-workers within 3 feet
  • Must be able to move in tight spaces
  • Must be able to climb stairs/ladders
  • Occasional lifting of > 50+ pounds

Responsibilities

  • Keeping facilities and equipment operating
  • Repairing identified problems
  • Handling a variety of issues including housing apartments and HVAC units
  • Safe upkeep of a facility, such as all Access houses or admin offices
  • Handling and working with tools
  • Performing light plumbing, HVAC, appliance repair, carpentry, and light electrical systems
  • Landscaping and snow removal
  • Completing assigned work orders from start to completion
  • Inspecting houses and admin buildings
  • Maintaining inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Scheduling repairs
  • Working collaboratively as part of the site team when necessary
  • Performing snow cleanup in the winter months
  • Mowing grass in the spring and fall
  • Operating motorized equipment such as snow removal or other equipment as trained and assigned
  • Supporting other departments in their requests for building/moving/transferring office furniture or equipment
