Mainframe System Programmer
About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe System Programmer to join our team. This role involves performing z/OS system programming, configuration, installation, and maintenance. You will be responsible for installing and maintaining vendor/ISV software, executing z/OS OS upgrades and RSU maintenance, and architecting, installing, and configuring complex z/OS and third-party software environments. The position also requires providing z/OS perspective support for various aspects of the mainframe environment, collaborating with other system programmers, troubleshooting issues, and driving innovative improvements. Additionally, you will work with application support teams and internal customers on business initiatives.
Requirements
- Expert in SMP/E and Non-SMP/E installation of ISV products
- Expert in IBM and Broadcom software installation and upgrades
- Advanced z/OS system commands, utilities, and automation tools
- z/OS V2.5 or later upgrades and z/OSMF workflow execution
- IODF/HCD skills for adding new devices
- Strong JCL and IBM Utilities: IEBGENER, IEBCOPY, AMASPZAP, DFDSS
- ISPF/TSO
- Basic REXX/CLIST

Responsibilities
- Perform z/OS system programming, configuration, installation, and maintenance using SMP/E
- Install and maintain vendor/ISV software
- Execute z/OS OS upgrades and RSU maintenance through z/OSMF workflows
- Architect, install, and configure complex z/OS and third-party software environments
- Support software standardization and new feature implementations
- Provide z/OS perspective support for storage, performance tuning, capacity planning, security, networking, and operating procedures
- Collaborate with Mainframe System Programmers across tracks to enhance the environment
- Troubleshoot issues, support team members, drive innovative improvements, and make technical decisions
- Identify and implement z/OS system/process improvements
- Work with application support teams and internal customers on business initiatives
