About The Position

Kyndryl is seeking a Mainframe DB2 DBA for their Z/OS Platform. In this role, you will manage and administer the backbone of the company's technological infrastructure, acting as the architect of the system. You will be responsible for shaping the base definition, structure, and documentation to ensure the long-term success of business operations. This role offers the opportunity to work with a global community of experts leading mainframe modernization and managing a significant portion of the world's MIPS.

Requirements

  • z/OS DB2 V12 and V13 Database Administrator (DBA) experience.
  • Understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL), DB2 performance tuning, Database Definition Language (DDL), and all DB2 utilities.
  • Ability to follow existing processes for Change, Incident, Problem, Availability, Service Level, and Capacity Management.
  • Working knowledge of DB2 database Backup/Recovery.
  • Ability to review logical design and provide recommendations.
  • Ability to transform a logical design model into a physical design.
  • Ability to design and prepare application database changes (add new or change existing structure).
  • Willingness to provide rotational 24 x 7 On Call support for the production environment.
  • At least 3 years of experience with DB2 V12 and DB2 V13.
  • At least 3 years of experience with z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, and DB2 Utilities.
  • At least 3 years of experience with executing DDL.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Capacity / Performance management.
  • At least 3 years of experience with DB2 Backup / Recovery.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Apply Problem Solving Techniques.
  • At least 3 years of experience in database monitoring.
  • At least 3 years of experience in database maintenance and administration.
  • Fluent English.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize systems by configuring, installing, and maintaining database management systems to ensure peak performance.
  • Set security protocols by managing user access and implementing policies to protect data.
  • Conduct capacity planning and growth projections based on usage to ensure system scalability.
  • Act as a strategic partner to coordinate database project plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Propose and implement enhancements to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Develop backup and recovery plans to protect the system in case of failure.
  • Support end users and application developers in solving complex database-related problems.
  • Perform incident and problem resolution based on customer service level requirements.
  • Execute DB Utilities (Reorg, Runstats, Copy, Load, Unload, Modify, Check, Recover, Rebuild).
  • Execute DB2 Commands (Stop, Start, Display, Cancel, etc).
  • Resolve problems, document solutions, and implement changes.
  • Manage DB2 Security (RACF, Grants, Revokes, Roles, Privileges).
