Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer
About The Position
NTT DATA is seeking a Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer to join their team in Buffalo, New York. This is a hybrid role, requiring candidates to live within commuting distance of Buffalo. The Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer will be responsible for ensuring the operation, maintenance, and upgrading of engineering services within the IBM mainframe environment, specifically focusing on CICS services. This involves technical, domain-level, and specialist skills, potentially including programming, support, environmental maintenance, analysis, and creating functional/technical design solutions. The role will oversee deployment, planning, configuration, and testing of CICS services.
Requirements
- 10+ CICS System Programmer or Technical Specialist experience
- 10+ Proven knowledge of a combination of the following products: CICS Transaction Server 4.2 and/or 5.3, SMP/E, Omegamon/CICS, ACF2 & RACF

Responsibilities
- Install, administrate, maintain, resource definitions and supporting CICS systems software
- Support and maintain CICS production including 'out of hours' troubleshooting
- Provide technical assistance to developers and application support teams
- Design and develop new hardware and software technology solutions
- Lead and direct problem investigation and recovery in complex situations
- Install and test new versions of CICS
- Provide 2nd and 3rd Level Support for applications that use CICS.
- Establish the needs of users and monitor user access and security
- Monitor performance and manage parameters in order to provide fast responses to front-end users
- Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans
- Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
- Ensure there is provision for data security and recovery control (ensuring all data is retrievable in an emergency).
