About The Position

As a Surgical Tech, you will prepare the operating room and surgical team to perform a variety of procedures. The role includes setting up surgical equipment and instruments, assisting the surgical team, and maintaining a sterile environment. Success requires adaptability, teamwork, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

The Surgical Technician assists in the scrubbing role according to prescribed standards and licensure, maintains the sterile field, and immediately reports breaks in aseptic technique. The role also involves passing instruments, suture products, medication, and sponge materials to the surgeon; assisting with tissue and organ retraction and suctioning; applying electrosurgical current as directed by the surgeon to an established instrument; and performing surgical counts with the RN according to policy and procedure.

Requirements

• High school diploma in General Studies or GED.
• Minimum of two years of surgical experience.
• Certified Surgical Technologist certification or Technologist in Surgery-Certified credential, upon hire.
• Basic Life Support - CPR certification within 14 days.

• Assist with retracting tissue and organs and with suctioning by holding the retractor placed by the surgeon.
• Apply electrosurgical current as directed by the surgeon to an established instrument placed by the surgeon.
• Perform surgical counts with the RN according to policy and procedure.
