About The Position

As a Surgical Tech, you will prepare the operating room and surgical team to perform a variety of surgical procedures. You will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and maintain a sterile environment. The role requires adaptability, effective collaboration with the OR team, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

The position assists the surgical team in the scrubbing role according to prescribed standards and licensure; maintains the sterile field and immediately reports breaks in aseptic technique; passes instruments, suture products, medication, and sponge materials to the surgeon; and assists with tissue and organ retraction and suctioning by holding retracting instruments placed by the surgeon. Electrosurgical current may be applied, as directed by the surgeon, to an established instrument placed by the surgeon. The role also performs surgical counts with the RN according to policy and procedure.

Requirements

• High school graduate in General Studies and a minimum of two years of surgical experience, upon hire; or GED in General Studies and a minimum of two years of surgical experience, upon hire.
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential, upon hire; or Technologist in Surgery-Certified credential, upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) within 14 days.
